Yamaha EX Series has been applauded around the world as a great value watercraft line, so we’re now proud to introduce the even faster, even more fun-packed EXR into this exciting family.
It’s a very powerful, sporty machine, yet versatile and easy to handle. High on the list of its unique features are the lightweight, agile NanoXcel 2 hull - and Yamaha revolutionary RiDE technology, the intuitive, simple-to-use control system which has already revolutionized watercraft riding for the owners of Yamaha premium models.
Despite its affordability, the DNA flowing through the veins of the EXR is pure Yamaha - technical innovation, world-beating engineering and supreme reliability.

10% more power - 1049cc TR-1 HO engine
All EX Series models are powered by Yamaha’s innovative 3-cylinder engine, the remarkable 1049cc Yamaha TR-1, but the EXR features the latest HO (High Output) version of this compact, lightweight unit, delivering 10% more power! Result? Awesome acceleration and great top-end speed, combined with Yamaha’s legendary economy and reliability.
NanoXcel2 lightweight hull and deck
For the super-sporty EXR, Yamaha has been careful to retain the great mix of user-friendly handling and balance so appreciated in the other EX models, but re-engineered the hull and deck in Yamaha’s very latest material - the unique lightweight, yet tough NanoXcel 2. Which makes Yamaha’s new EXR even faster, even more agile - and even more fun!
RiDE system (Reverse with Intuitive Deceleration Electronics)
Yamaha’s revolutionary RiDE® system transforms control, bringing new confidence to riders at every level. Simply pull the lever on the right hand-grip to move forward and accelerate - pull the lever on the left grip to slow down or reverse. With the bonus of Reverse Traction Control too, it really is that simple!
Large 50 Liter fuel capacity - more time on the water
When you go blasting out to sea on the new EXR, you probably won’t want to come back for a while, so Yamaha has built in a tank with a larger fuel capacity (50 Litres) than any competitive watercraft. Which means you can go a lot further - and your fun out on the water will last even longer. Thoughtful - and typically Yamaha.
What they say
“The EXR is the only Rec-Lite craft, that if equipped with a minimal amount of parts, could handily dominate its class segment. Rec-Lite racing is rapidly growing to include both Veteran and youth racers and for good cause – and the EXR is the perfect fit. Almost supernatural throttle and rider response, reduced weight and a setback pump producing superior hookup gives the EXR a superior edge over not only the competition but other EX models.”
- Kevin Shaw, Watercraft Journal
“The 2019 Yamaha EXR build starts with the lightest weight version of NanoXcel, the brand’s vaunted NanoXcel 2 construction material, to fabricate both the hull and deck. Nano2 trims significant weight from the craft, dropping it to 540 pounds (in comparison the next-in-line EX Deluxe weighs in at 600). On the other half of that power-to-weight ratio, a new engine control unit (ECU) bumps up the horsepower of the 1,049cc TR-1 engine by 10% to an even 110hp. That engine now revs to 8000 rpm compared to the former 7300 rpm limit. Final changes include a new top-loader intake grate and 40mm pump extension.”
