Video: Australian Custom Builders Are The Match of Anywhere Else in the World

Think of custom motorcycle builders and America and Japan immediately spring to mind. But, after watching this film, you realise that Australia has its fair share of visionary creators too.

Handcrafted: A Film About Australia’s Custom Bike Builders

If there’s one thing the custom scene does as well as building bikes, it’s making great films about building bikes. They lavish just as much care on filming and editing as they do on forming a one-off petrol tank or girder front end.

This particular film was made in Australia and, naturally, features a whole bunch of Aussie builders and engineers. What quickly becomes apparent is that there is just as much skill lurking in lock-ups and workshops Down Under as there is in any other country with a history of bike building.

This shouldn’t be a surprise. Due to its location, Australians - and their close neighbours, New Zealanders - have always been skilled at making and mending when something broke and it is this skill that has translated perfectly into custom bike building.

At 50 minutes long, it’s an in-depth look at the scene in Oz which is all the more welcome for being so unexpected.
