The 2022 Audi R8 Performance V-10 RWD Is Improved In Every Aspect, Including More Power!

The 2022 Audi R8 Performance RWD now comes with a Variable Dynamic Steering setup and 40 horses more than before

Audi has rejigged the R8’s lineup a little by replacing erstwhile entry-level R8 Quattro V-10 with a Performance RWD model. It comes with more power and shenanigans than before, and will be offered in two forms – Coupe and Spyder

The car still comes with a 5.2-liter, naturally aspirated V-10 engine, but it now makes 562 HP and 406 lb/ft of torque; 29 HP and nine pound-feet of torque more than before

Power is channeled to the rear wheels exclusively by a seven-speed S-Tronic automatic gearbox and a mechanical limited-slip differential. Audi will also offer Variable Dynamic Steering setup for the first time of the RWD R8

The R8 V-10 Performance RWD Coupe can sprint to 60 mph from a standstill in 3.7 seconds, and in 3.8 seconds in the Spyder style. The top speed is rated at 204- and 203 mph for the coupe and Spyder models, respectively.

You also get four drive modes here – Auto, Comfort, Dynamic, and Individual. As for the braking duties, an 18-inch high-performance steel braking system with a wave design, and a 19-inch high-performance ceramic braking system are available

In terms of aesthetics, the R8 Performance RWD features a flat matte-finished singleframe grille up front. There are a lot of aero elements like a wide front spoiler, splitter, air vents in the grille, and wide air intakes on the rear bumper and the side

The soft top of the Spyder can be deployed in 20 seconds up to a speed of 31 mph (50 kph). The fabric is available in either Black, Brown, or Red colors. The Spyder version weighs 3,736 lbs; 231 lbs more than the 3,505-lb coupe model

The R8 comes with extra-light 19-inch wheels shod in 245/35 section rubber at the front and 295/35 section tires at the rear as standard. 20-inch aluminum cast optional and 245/30 and 305/30 section Cup tires are available as optional

There are 10 exterior shades to choose from, including the ‘Ascari Blue Metallic’ shade that’s being offered on the RWD Performance V-10 R8 for the first time. It was earlier reserved only for the Performance Quattro model

Step inside the cabin and you’ll be welcomed by a very sporty cockpit. You have the ‘Monoposto’ here, which is a large arch spanning the area in the front. You get a multifunction leather-wrapped steering wheel here

A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster sits behind the steering wheel. It has a large tachometer in the middle and shows stuff like power, torque, g-forces, lap times, tire pressure and temperature, and engine and transmission oil temperatures

The car can be had with either bucket seats or sports seats, both of which are draped in fine napa leather. Opting for the R8 Performance Design Pack will give black Alcantara leather upholstery with Mercato Blue diamond stitching and carbon fiber trim

Audi had earlier noted that the the R8 Performance RWD costs €149,000 for the coupe and €162,000 for the Spyder in Germany. This translates to approx. $168,000 for the coupe and $182,500 for the Spyder as per the current exchange rates
