Performance, comfort, and looks make up this all-rounder from NANROBOT

China-based NANROBOT has been rapidly expanding its electric scooter portfolio over the past years so that it now includes the D5+. Marketed as an adult-oriented e-scooter, the D5+ ticks a lot of essential boxes that customers are more inclined to consider, including the likes of performance and comfort.

What’s more, the D5+ also looks very good in comparison to most of its peers, but keep in mind that all these qualities are reflected in the price tag. Stay with us to find out more about the NANROBOT D5+ electric scooter as we take a closer look at what it brings to the table.

NANROBOT D5+ Electric Scooter Design

If you’re familiar with NANROBOT’s range of e-scooters, then we don’t have to tell you that there’s a particular sturdiness oozed by their products. Far from falling on the bulky side, the D5+ adopts the same quality-inspiring look thanks to the chunky wheels and the so-popular matte black aluminum-alloy frame. NANROBOT’s intentions were obvious: keep things simple, offer a friendly design, and don’t overcomplicate things. And it works. The D5+ looks neat, and as you are about to find out, it has both the performance and comfort credentials to complete the design.

NANROBOT D5+ Electric Scooter Comfort and Practicality

The NANROBOT D5+ electric scooter offers front and rear LED lights as well as turn signals mounted on the rear end of the board.

What’s more, in its 2.0 version, it can be fitted with an optional seat that will come in handy on those long commutes, but also adds a drop of stability while cruising at a constant speed. The handlebar is fitted with a power button and two additional drive mode controls, a pedestrian horn, and a round display that projects info such as speed and battery level.

According to NANROBOT, the electric scooter’s net weight is about 74 pounds (33.5 kilograms), while its load capacity is rated at 330 pounds (150 kilograms). As you can see, the NANROBOT D5+ isn’t what you’d call a lightweight scooter due to the dual-motor setup, shock absorbers, and rather large battery pack. However, this is an aspect that you’ll have to learn to live with in order to enjoy a high top speed and a longer range. When folded, the NANROBOT D5+ scooter measures 45.2 inches x 9.4 inches x 11.8 inches, so it’s not exactly a space saver either, which makes loading it inside the trunk troublesome if you happen to own a supermini.

NANROBOT D5+ Electric Scooter Performance

Let’s talk a bit about performance because the NANROBOT D5+ e-scooter has plenty of it thanks to a dual-drive setup that mixes two wheel-mounted electric brushless gear motors rated at 1,000 watts each - so you get 2,000 watts overall. That is, in fact, more than twice the average motor power offered by other e-scooters out there (roughly around 836 watts), so it really should come in handy whenever you want to accelerate faster, carry more weight (perhaps a heavier backpack/duffel bag), or simply climb a steeper hill. You can also choose between four driving modes, namely Eco, Turbo, Single, or Dual power.

In this setup,

the NANROBOT D5+ electric scooter can reach a top speed of 40 miles per hour (64 kilometers per hour),

while a single full charge is enough to cover a distance of up to 40 to 50 miles (64 to 80 kilometers) thanks to a 52-volt (26Ah) Lithium-ion battery pack embedded under the footrest area. NANROBOT says that fully charging the battery takes between six to ten hours via the provided charger, after which you’re good to go on pretty much every surface, as long as you don’t take the e-scooter out on the same off-road trail with your Jeep Wrangler, duh!

NANROBOT D5+ Electric Scooter Specs
Power 2 x 1,000W

You’ll have to thank the 10-inch wheels for the go-almost-anywhere ability. They also come fitted with large, slotted disc brakes so, mind you, these are not just for show. You’ll need all the stopping power you can get given the E-scooters high top speed, and that’s nicely provided by the front and rear brake setups.

The starting price for the NANROBOT D5+ e-scooter is $1,380. However, if you specify the optional seat, this price tag goes up to $1,530. Moreover, NANROBOT will sell you a $45 pouch-like bag that can be attached to the handlebar for more storage options - you can keep your phone and wallet inside during your trip - as well as an extended warranty service ($99 for one year, $189 for two years). You can also get the NANROBOT D5+ electric scooter on Amazon.

As time went on, he started seeing that in other cars as well, and his love for the automobile was born.  Read full bio
