General Motors first launched the GMC Sierra back in 1998, following it up with the upscale Denali trim level a few years later. Now, the latest 2019 model year is bringing with it a generational changeover, debuting in a live event in Detroit and broadcast on the Internet. Previewed in the range-topping Denali and SLT trim levels, the latest Sierra gets a variety of cool new features and technologies, including improved utility for the light-duty half-ton with a MultiPro tailgate and carbon fiber bed, plus new styling to help it stand out a bit more from its mechanically identical cousin, the Chevrolet Silverado.

Although it was bound to happen, this comes as a surprise. GMC dropped a short trailer teasing the new upcoming Electric Sierra Denali. GMC Hummer EV will be followed by a cheaper, Sierra-like electric truck
GMC will build its first electric vehicle in 2021. That’s when the Hummer EV will go into production. But the resurrected truck won’t be the only EV in the brand’s lineup. The GM-owned marque revealed that it will also offer an all-electric Sierra pickup, but there’s no specific timeline for that vehicle yet.

Gone are the days when drag racing was limited to supercars and hypercars. These days, watching trucks go berserk in a straight line is the trend. The guys at TFL Truck decided to bring four pickups to the race track – two Chevy Silverados with different V-8 engines, a GMC Sierra with a straight-six mill, and a Ram Rebel with a V-6. Instead of pitting all four workhorses against each other at the same time, the two V-8s battled first, and then the V-6s followed suit. 2018 GMC 3500HD Denali by Rolling Big Power and Keaton Hoskins
The GMC Sierra 3500HD Denali by Rolling Big Power and Keaton Hoskins is a one-off truck that showcases custom features designed for disabled people. Unveiled at the 2019 SEMA Show, this truck was created by Rolling Big Power, an industry leading manufacturer of aftermarket parts and Keaton “The Muscle” Hoskins from TV’s “Diesel Brothers.” It is based on the older, third-generation Sierra 3500HD Denali.
The truck was built for Jonathan Barber, who was involved in a coal-mining accident in 2017 that left him paralyzed from the chest down. Fitted with a 14-inch lift suspension, this bespoke Denali truck also features a gullwing door, hydraulic chair lift, and twist-handle controls for throttle and brakes, all designed to make life easier for its disabled driver. It’s fancy on the outside and practical on the inside, but it’s also special enough to draw a lot of onlookers at the SEMA Show or other truck-specific events. In other words, it’s a handicap-accessible show rig that we don’t get to see too often.

The more utility you can add to a pickup, the better it becomes. That’s a given, but how do you improve on the formula? GMC is Slashing up to $4,500 off the GMC Sierra HD in October 2018
In the midst of heavy competition, GMC is offering a new cash incentive program to the tune of $4,500 on any new 2018 GMC Sierra HD. The nationwide incentive comes at a time when competition in the highly lucrative quarter-ton and one-ton heavy-duty pickup market is as high as it’s ever been. If dealing with its current rivals isn’t enough, the Sierra has also had to account for new entrants like the Nissan Titan XD that are making their presence known in the market. The $4,500 incentive applies to all 2018 GMC Sierra HD models, though those who are interested must abide by a number of conditions, including taking delivery of their pickup by October 31, 2018.

Every now and then an automaker really steps it up and comes up with something that shakes the very foundation of the automotive market. Now that we’ve seen it’s slightly lesser brother, the 2019 Chevy Silverado, it’s about time GMC pulls the covers of the Sierra. Set to be more luxurious, with a fairly different look outside, it’s certainly not something you want to miss. You never know, it just might be your next truck!
GMC Teases the 2019 GMC Sierra Taillights and Side Profile
GMC has given one last tease before officially debuting its all-new 2019 Sierra 1500 pickup on March 1. The darkened images show the headlight and taillight profiles, with not much else to see. GMC was smart enough to thwart efforts in Photoshop to lighten the images; there’s just no data in the shadows.
Nevertheless, we can see the taillights have a modern appearance, yet one familiar to GMC. The C-shaped LED lights appear to be housed in clear lenses, similar to the taillights found on the current Sierra, Canyon, and Yukon models.
Aside from the taillights, we know the GMC Sierra will share the same underpinning, drivetrain components, and interior design as its corporate twin, the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The truck will have a stronger frame, updated suspension parts, and use GM’s new high-tech Dynamic Fuel Management technology. DFM allows both the 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V-8s to individually control cylinder firing operations depending on engine loads. During light loads like coasting down a hill, the engine is capable of running on a single cylinder. When power is needed, the DFM system provides fuel and spark to all eight cylinders. GM’s new 10-speed automatic transmission will be present, too.
GMC will likely debut the Sierra’s entire lineup, from the bare-bones WT to the range-topping Denali trim. The Denali has been a veritable gold mine for GMC over the last 10 years, so we fully expect much hubbub to be made over the trim line.
After its March 1 debut, the 2019 Sierra will go on sale toward the end of summer in 2018. Expect pricing to increase slightly over the current model.
GMC Teases the 2019 GMC Sierra; Debut Imminent!
General Motors is on the cusp of debuting its all-new 2019 GMC Sierra half-ton pickup. The automaker tweeted a darkened teaser photo on Monday, February 26 – just days ahead of the March 1 debut.
The image shows the emboldened red GMC logo flanked by C-shaped LED daytime running lights that encapsulate the truck’s LED headlights. Beyond that, it’s impossible to tell what GMC has up its sleeve – that is, until its twin brother is taken into consideration, the all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
Still, the new generation of GM trucks will look much less identical than in years past. Spy shots have shown the fenders and taillights are unique to each truck, though the dashboards and interior layout won’t have such separation. Aside from trim pieces, badges, and GMC’s IntelliLink rather than Chevy’s MyLink infotainment systems, the two trucks will have nearly identical cabins. GMC will likely have the swankier range-topping version, though, thanks to the ever-popular Denali trim.
Powertrain options will be the same, including heavily updated versions of the 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V-8s, along with GM’s new 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel. The 10-speed automatic is expected to be standard across the board. GM is apparently dropping the 4.3-liter V-6.
While pricing is still a highly guarded secret among GMC’s bean counters, tradition says the Sierra will be slightly more expensive than the Silverado. GMC has always been marketed as a slightly more upscale version of the Chevy.

2019 GMC Sierra Expected to Debut March 1 in Detroit
General Motors is apparently skipping the 2018 Chicago Auto Show in favor of an independent debut for its all-new 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The Chicago Auto Show is happening Thursday, February 8 and Friday, February 9, but the Sierra debut is rumored for March 1.
If true, the event will take place almost two months after Chevrolet debuted its 2019 Silverado 1500. Of course, both the Silverado and Sierra have historically shared a vast number of parts with styling being the major differentiator. That might change, however, as GMC aims to further separate itself from Chevy. Both trucks compete for basically the same customer, though the GMC’s target audience is slightly more upscale.
The 2019 Sierra’s March debut will include its full lineup of trim levels, including the swanky Denali trim. Also expected are the shared powertrains with the Chevy Silverado. These include updated 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V-8s, along with the highly anticipated 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbodiesel. The 10-speed automatic transmission GM co-developed with Ford is expected in all but the base trim levels. GM has not announced whether the 4.3-liter V-6 will continue.
The GM twins have their work cut out as Ram also brings an all-new truck to market for 2019 and the Ford F-150 underwent a mid-cycle refresh for 2018. Together, the twins sold roughly 804,000 trucks in 2017, closely rivaling the Ford F-Series’ 2017 sales of 820,799 trucks, but blowing away Ram’s sales of only 489,418 trucks. Ram is expected to see a massive increase in sales thanks to its new 2019 truck, but so are Chevy and GMC. For the first time in 40 years, Ford might be dethroned as the pickup truck sales leader.
2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD All Mountain Concept
About the best means of transportation on snow-covered mountain trails is a Snowcat – those machines that cross between a tank and snowmobile. The only problem is luxury or that vast lack thereof. Well, GMC now has an answer for this frigid conundrum. Meet the 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD All Mountain Concept.
This one-off monster is basically a Sierra 2500 with a ton of upgrades, but its foundation is familiar. The truck runs the new-for-2017 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V-8 with a stump-pulling 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. The Alison 1000 six-speed automatic transmission and two-speed transfer case are responsible for shifting gears while five people can ride in the leather-lined crew cab. Naturally, GMC started the concept build with a Sierra Denali, meaning nearly every available feature and amenity comes standard. Oh, and of course heated seats and a heated steering wheel are included.

The Emissions Drama Continues; GM Accused Of Installing Defeat Devices
Earlier today, we reported how Fiat Chrysler Automobiles was accused of installing defeat devices in roughly 100,000 diesel vehicles to help circumvent emissions standards, a scheme similar to what Volkswagen did in the infamous dieselgate scandal. Now, it’s looking like General Motors is next in line to feel the heat, as a new lawsuit alleges the automaker cheated on more than 700,000 diesel Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks. This latest allegation makes GM the sixth automaker accused of using cheater software since the dieselgate scandal broke in 2015. Affected vehicles include Duramax Diesel Chevrolet Silverados and GMC Sierras between the 2011 and 2016 model years. The lawsuit is currently seeking class-action status, and was filed in U.S. District Count in Detroit in part by Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro, the same firm involved in the VW dieselgate suit.
The lawsuit against GM alleges the damage created by the cheating GM vehicles could even exceed those of the cheating VW’s, with two to five times the legal limit of harmful emissions produced. GM was quick to respond with a statement, saying “These claims are baseless and we will vigorously defend ourselves. The Duramax Diesel Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra comply with all U.S. EPA and CARB emissions regulations.”

2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD All Terrain X
The GMC Sierra HD is getting some much-needed powertrain updates for the 2017 model year, but that’s not the only change happening. GMC’s All Terrain X package is now being added as an optional package for the 2500-series pickup. The Sierra HD All Terrain X joins the Sierra 1500 and Canyon All Terrain X to round out GMC’s line of off-road themed trucks.
“The new Sierra HD All Terrain X’s powerful attitude reflects a popular trend in very capable off-road trucks, executed with a range-topping level of refinement — a combination of attributes GMC has cultivated for years,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing. “And with the new, available Duramax 6.6-liter, this truck more than matches its bold good looks with true professional-grade capability.”
The All Terrain X basically takes the Z71 off-road package and throws on some cosmetic and parts changes designed to appeal to modern truck buyers who treat their trucks more like a blank canvas than as a work tool. The package does bring several functional updates to the Z71 package, meaning this isn’t just a mere appearance package.
Customers can order the All Terrain X package on the 2017 Sierra 2500 HD with either the 6.0-liter gasoline V-8 or the newly updated 6.6-liter Duramax V-8 turbodiesel. It is only offered in 4WD and in the crew cab configuration. Color choices are limited to Black Onyx and Summit White.

The 2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD All Terrain X Mixes Off-Road Prowress with 910 Pound-Feet of Torque
With gasoline prices fairly reasonable, it’s no surprise that we Americans began to flock back to larger SUVs and Crossovers. Joining models like the F-150 Raptor, Ram Power Wagon, and the Canyon and Sierra All-Terrain X cousins, is the new GMC Sierra 2500HD All Terrain X, and boy is it a doozy. As the third model in GM’s All Terrain X series, the 2500 HD All Terrain X can be had with either a 6.0-liter Gasoline mill or a 6.6-liter Duramax Turbo Diesel. That Duramax, by the way, pumps out a whopping 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of rock climbing, off-road awesomeness.

Outside of the insane and segment-topping output afforded by the 2017 Sierra HD All Terrain X, it also comes with an awesome, customized appearance to give it that sinister off-road look that every truck guy loves these days. Staying true to the off-road market, the newest All Terrain X rides on, black-painted, 18-inch wheels wrapped in 275/65-series Duratrac MT-rated tires that have an aggressive tread layout. It also gets black exterior mirrors, body colored door handles and radiator grille surround, four-inch sport side steps, and a black sport bar in the rear. To complete its off-road look, the bed comes standard with a spray-on bed liner, and there’s a Z71 off-road suspension package to go with an underbody shield and an Eaton automatic locking rear differential.

GM Announces Recall on 2007-2011 Full-size Trucks & SUVs
General Motors has announced more vehicles associated with the Takata airbag scandal, this time involving full-size trucks and SUVs from the 2007 to 2011 model years. GM says the affected vehicles are “safe to drive today,” but should be repaired as soon as owners are notified replacement parts are available.
The recall includes the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Avalanche, Tahoe and Suburban from the 2007 through 2011 model year. Their GMC counterparts are included as well, making the 2007 through 2011 Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL under recall. The same is true for the 2007 through 2011 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade EXT, and Escalade ESV.
Likewise, Chevy and GMC HD trucks are under recall. Specifically, the Silverado 2500 and 3500, along with the Sierra 2500 and 3500 truck from 2007 and 2008 are included.
The issue stems from the passenger-side front airbag’s propellant, the chemical agent that inflates the airbag upon a collision. Over time, heat and humidity can degrade the propellant inside the airbag inflator, causing the inflator to rupture if the airbag deploys. These affected airbags reportedly came with propellant but no drying agent designed to stabilize the explosive agent.
GM says it has no reports of inflators rupturing in these vehicles as of May 2016, covering an estimated 44,000 airbag deployments.
As with any safety recall, the repairs will be done for free by local dealerships. Owners of these vehicles can expect to be contacted by GM, but can proactively search for any active recall notifications on their vehicles’ VIN on GM’s website, www.gmtakataairbag.com.

2017 GMC Sierra Denali 2500HD
GMC released today three photos of the updated 2017 Sierra Denali 2500HD. The new photos show an updated hood design with a functional scoop, bolder lettering for the Duramax turbodiesel engine option, and not much else. Yep, the changes – at lease those on the outside – are very minimal.
Also minimalistic is GMC’s description of the changes, with the entirety of the press release saying, “GMC today released the first photos of the 2017 Sierra Denali 2500HD featuring a functional hood scoop design hinting at what is beneath its bold new appearance.” That’s it.
This sort of teaser isn’t new for GMC. The automaker pulled a similar stunt with the Sierra’s 2016 model year refresh. In that case, we simply got a single photo with nearly no description.
Nevertheless, the photo is official, so we know exactly what 2017 holds for the Sierra 2500HD. We also expect the same functional hood scoop on the 3500HD, or at least those fitted with the optional 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel. News on the Sierra 1500s has not been divulged, meaning it could be a carry-over year with no changes, or GMC could introduce a slight refresh. We’re betting on the carry-over scenario, as the current design is only a year old.

GM Rumored to Bring Truck Production Back To U.S.
General Motors is rumored to be reallocating a majority of its Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup truck manufacturing from its Salio, Mexico plant to the Flint, Michigan assembly plant, where a large percentage of Silverados and Sierras are built.
The rumor comes from United Auto Workers Union members who say they received a letter from GM advising them of the likelihood of increased hiring of both full-time and temporary assembly line workers at the Flint plant, along with the ability for current workers to log significant overtime hours. The Detroit Bureau, which broke the story, reports union workers quoting the letter as saying, “The increase in light-duty pickup volume for Flint Assembly is (for vehicles) currently being built in Silao.” Workers say the letter continued in saying union members can work as many Saturdays as they want, earning an extra $12,000 to $15,000 next year.
Though GM and the UAW have not made official announcements regarding the move, the news does line up with GM’s sizeable, $877 million investment at the Flint plant, which was announced in August of 2015 with an estimated completion date of 2018. As we reported, the investment will bring a new body shop facility that stamps body parts like doors, hoods, fenders, and bed panels. Upgrades to the paint facility, added shipping docks, and upgraded assembly line equipment are also included in the investment.
The realignment in production is likely scheduled to commence with the introduction of the next-generation Silverado and Sierra pickups, due out for the 2018 model year. Production would need to begin in early to mid 2017 for the updated pickups.
There is no word on GM’s plans for its Silao, Mexico plant, or if this will affect Silverado and Sierra production in GM’s other assembly plants, located in Indiana and Canada.

2016 GMC Sierra Gets Trailering Enhancements
GMC is adding two new towing enhancements to its 1500 and HD Sierra lineup. The upgrades include a gooseneck/fifth-wheel trailering prep package and a trailering camera system that affords unprecedented views from around the pickup and trailer when reversing.
Both these factory- and dealer-added upgrades help Sierra owners make the most of their trucks without having to turn to the aftermarket. Up first, the camera system is available across the Sierra lineup, and is compatible on all 2014-2016 model years that came equipped with the DPN- or DQS-coded trailer mirrors. A camera is mounted to the mirror housing on each side of the truck, while a third camera is remotely mounted to the upper and rearward most point of the trailer, giving the driver a view of what’s behind.
All three video fees are displayed on the IntelliLink infotainment screen. Later in the summer, GMC will debut a fourth camera that mounts in the center high-mount stop light for viewing cargo or aligning a fifth-wheel or gooseneck trailer to its bed-mounted hitch.
On the hitching side, 2500- and 3500-series Sierras will be able to accept the new gooseneck/fifth-wheel trailering prep package, a factory-installed option costing $350. This adds a frame-mounted hitch platform and tray that accepts a gooseneck hitch ball or the mounting brackets for a fifth-wheel hitch assembly. The package also includes block-out caps for the openings when the hitch is not in use, as well as a bed-mounted seven-pin wiring connector.
For those who want to finish off the trailer accessory package, GMC is offering the gooseneck “completion kit” at dealerships, which includes a 2-5/16-inch hitch ball and two safety chain attachments. The price is $315. Fifth-wheel towers can opt to buy their hitch assemblies at the dealership as well, with the 20,000-pound rated hitch costing $939 and the 25,000-pound rated hitch costing $999.
The addition of the camera system and gooseneck/fifth-wheel prep package allows the GMC Sierra pickups to better compete with its high-tech competition found in Ford and Nissan.

One Million Silverado & Sierras Recalled for Seatbelt Issue
General Motors has issued a voluntary recall for 895,232 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks from the 2014 and 2015 model year. The safety recall centers on the flexible steel cable that connects the seatbelt to the driver’s seat. Over time, the cable can fatigue and separate from the driver repeatedly bending the cable when entering the seat.
GM says there have been no reports of crashes, injuries, or fatalities to the issue, which came to light through warranty data.
Chevrolet and GMC dealers will enlarge the side shield opening around the cable and install a pusher bracket on the seatbelt tensioner. Worn tensioner assemblies will be replaced. Like any recall, the work will be done without cost to the customer.
The recall also covers roughly 3,000 new 2014 and 2015 trucks still on dealer lots. These trucks have a stop-sale order until the recall work has been completed. Still more trucks are included – those sold in other countries like Canada and Mexico, along with places in Latin American and the Middle East. All told, the recall includes 1,037,982 pickup trucks.
There’s no word on whether the Silverado HD and Sierra HD pickups suffer from the same seatbelt issue, or if GM will issue a similar recall for 2500- and 3500-series pickups.

GM Debuts eAssist System for Silverado and Sierra 1500 Pickups
General Motors is launching a new trail hybrid powertrain program for approximately 700 pickup trucks to be sold in California for the 2016 model year. Roughly 500 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab trucks trimmed in the mid-grade 1LT trim, along with roughly 200 GMC Sierra Crew Cab trucks with the SLT Premium Plus package, will receive the hybrid eAssist powertrain. GM will monitor customer feedback in preparation for a larger rollout for the 2017 model year.
The hybrid system is only available with the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V-8 and eight-speed automatic transmission with the 2WD driveline configuration.
The hybrid system utilizes the same lithium-ion battery cells as the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid and software derived from the Chevy Volt. Power is sent to a compact induction motor located on the engine’s accessory drive. It provides up to 13 horsepower and 44 pound-feet of torque during high-load situations, while also allowing the 5.3-liter V-8 to operate in four-cylinder mode more often, furthering its efficiency. When not under power, the electric motor acts as a generator, providing 15 kW of regenerative power back to the battery pack. Furthermore, both trucks now feature a Start/Stop system for the V-8.
That battery pack is a 24-cell, 0.45 kWh unit and is located in the center console or under the front bench seat, depending on which seating configuration is chosen, while the power inverter module is located in the engine bay for liquid cooling. The total system only adds 100 pounds to the trucks, resulting in little sacrifice in capabilities. Maximum towing is listed at 9,400 pounds.
All told, the hybrid system increases both the Silverado’s and Sierra’s fuel economy by two miles per gallon in city, making their EPA numbers climb to 18 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined. The eAssist system is only costing customers an additional $500 atop the truck’s price. If GM receives good reports from its customers, it may expand availability of the eAssist system in its 1500-series trucks for future model years.

GMC has pulled the covers off its latest special edition package for the Sierra 1500 pickup at the 2016 Houston Auto Show in Texas. Called the All Terrain X, the Sierra is built to further the capabilities of the current Sierra All Terrain thanks to additional equipment and looks that separate it from its brethren in the showroom.
This is certainly not the first special edition package we’ve seen on a General Motors truck, however, the first package in recent memory that adds horsepower. Yes, GM has listened to the pleas of consumers and journalist by adding a performance exhaust system. It bumps the 5.3-liter V-8’s horsepower from 355 to 365 – a 10 horsepower gain paired with a more aggressive exhaust rumble. It’s a welcomed addition, to say the least.
Horsepower isn’t the only attractive add-on here; a slew of off-road equipment including mud tires on trim-unique wheels, a roll bar with LED light bars, side step bars for easy access to the cab, and most importantly, the Z71 suspension package.
The GMC Sierra All Terrain X will go on sale in the Spring of 2016. GMC has yet to disclose its selling price.

According to GMC, the range-topping Denali line wasn’t exclusive or haughty enough, so the automaker debuted something more… ultimate. Yep, the GMC Sierra 1500 can now be had in something called the Denali Ultimate.
You might be asking yourself what else does GMC have in its parts bin that could possibly make the Sierra Denali more upscale. Ponder away, but nothing else exists in the lineup. So what’s the deal?
The new-for-2016 Denali Ultimate package basically makes everything otherwise optional on the truck, standard equipment. Those 22-inch wheels – standard. 4WD – standard. Power-folding moonroof – standard. Driver Alert Package – standard. You get the idea. In fact, the only thing left as an option is the 420-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8.
The Denali Ultimate edition does add some new features not found before, including wireless phone charging and what GMC calls its Tri-Mode Power Steps. Push a button and the running boards slide rearwards, providing a step into the bed. Overly complicated? Sure, but it’s power operated and will attract hordes of onlookers.
Maybe.
Otherwise, the Sierra Denali Ultimate is basically a Sierra Denali. The truck does have the visual updates for the 2016 model year, which boils down to a new front fascia and taillights. Those are certainly welcomed additions to the truck, but the remainder of the bodywork carries over.
Nevertheless, the GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate is expected to rake in big sales and profits for GMC. The automaker says growth in this segment has exploded. GMC has seen its market share jump from zero percent in 2013 to an impressive 15.5-percent hold on the premium full-size truck segment.
GMC says the 2016 Sierra Denali Ultimate will arrive in dealers during the first quarter of 2016.

Only nine months after GMC debuted its 2015 Sierra 1500 Elevation Edition, the 2016 version is here to replace it. However, most of the content and cosmetics stay the same. What changes are the new front face and rear end – both of which are revised for 2016 across the Sierra lineup.

This mid-cycle refresh for the Sierra – along with its Chevrolet Silverado cousin – is meant to bring new life to the trucks, both of which debuted for the 2014 model year. Now two short years later, the trucks have a new mug and some minor updates to the infotainment system. And that’s about it.
If you clicked the link above to read my review of the 2015 Sierra Elevation Edition, you’d be hard-pressed to finish the review with a smile. To be blunt, I ripped GMC a new one over it calling the Elevation Edition a “sport” truck. See, in my mind, sport trucks should have stupid amounts of horsepower with a tightened suspension and fat, sticky tires. The GMC Syclone and Ford F-150 Lighting are perfect examples. What does the GMC Sierra Elevation come standard with? A V-6 with 285 horsepower. Yawn
While I can’t say my mind has changed, General Motors has debuted several similar “special editions” to its truck lineups, both with the GMC and Chevrolet brands. None of them have powertrain modifications. A few come with more purposeful off-road tires, but otherwise, the modifications are all cosmetic. With that being set as the norm, my expectations for GM’s special editions have (sadly) changed.
Nevertheless, these appearance packages attract customers to showrooms. GM will tell you these dolled-up trucks sell more quickly than standard, run-of-the-mill pickups. I don’t doubt that one bit. Still, It’s hard not to pine for a 580-horsepower, supercharged, 6.2-liter LSA-powered Sierra with the guts to take on a Ford Mustang GT.
