Maserati

Maserati was founded on December 1, 1914, in Bologna, by the Maserati brothers: Alfieri, Bindo, Carlo, Ettore, and Ernesto. Today, Maserati is headquartered in Modena, while its owner is none other than the FCA Group, which also has the likes of Jeep, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo as part of its portfolio. Speaking of ownership, Maserati had a rough patch when it comes to who owned the company. In 1937, it was sold to Adolfo Orsi’s family, who brought the brand on a successful course in motorsports. Believe it or not, Citroën took ownership of Maserati in 1968, but after the French firm went bankrupt in 1974, Maserati was put into liquidation. Thanks to an agreement with the Ministry of Industry in Rome, Maserati landed in the backyard of state-owned holding company GEPI and Alejandro de Tomaso, which was named president and CEO of Maserati. But stability was far from attained. In 1993, de Tomaso sold his 51% stake in Maserati to Fiat, which would become the sole owner of Maserati and pumped substantial investments into the company in an attempt to make it both profitable and desirable once again. Come 1997, Fiat sold a 50% share in Maserati to Ferrari and by 1999, the Prancing Horse took full control and turned Maserati into its luxury division. Things wouldn’t last here either, because in 2005, Maserati and Ferrari parted ways, with the latter going under the Fiat Group umbrella, together with Alfa Romeo, under the same form of organisation that we know today.

2022 Maserati MC20 Convertible Teased Ahead Of Official Unveil

The MC20 Convertible will be the Italian Automakers first mid-engined Roadster in 16 years, following in the footsteps of the bonkers MC12 Spyder

One of the first open-top MC20 prototypes has left the gates of Maserati’s old Modena plant. They picked a different style for the car’s camouflage this time around with a blue cloud livery. I mean it is a convertible after all and this cloud theme probably signifies opening up to the blue skies.

This Drag Race Between The Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S And The Maserati Levante GTS Has Left Us Befuddled!

This Drag Race Between The Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S And The Maserati Levante GTS Has Left Us Befuddled!

The AMG GLE 63 S and the Maserati Levante GTS are evenly matched on paper, but the races say otherwise

It’s a new day and time for another drag race. This time, it’s the Maserati Levante GTS taking on the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S and it’s come from ‘Sam CarLegion’. When you read the specs, both the SUVs are evenly matched. The German is more powerful, but it is also much heavier, thus nullifying the power advantage. However, once they hit the drag strip, it seemed like a lopsided race. Which SUV do you think won the races?

Special Treatment? Italy Seeks Exemption From EU Engine Ban for Ferrari and Lamborghini

Italy wants Ferrari and Lamborghini to be excluded from the ban on internal combustion engines

The European Union’s comprehensive ban on combustion engines is set to go into force in 2035, but the Italian government is hoping for an exception for supercar makers. According to a Bloomberg post, Italy wants to shield Ferrari and Lamborghini from this potential European Union ban on gas-powered engines.

2021 Maserati Ghibli Operanera and Operabianca Special Editions

2021 Maserati Ghibli Operanera and Operabianca Special Editions

Maserati teamed with Hiroshi Fujiwara to create two cool Ghibli special editions

Maserati just announced that it’s teaming up with famed Japanese fashion designer and DJ Hiroshi Fujiwara to create a pair of special edition Ghiblis themed after the street brand “Fragment.” These special editions go by the name Operanera and Operabianca, and total production is capped to just 175 examples for the entire planet. The Operanera is the darker of the two models and features an oddly contrasting exterior finish of gloss and opaque black. Operabianca, which hasn’t been revealed quite yet, will apparently feature a mix of gloss white and opaque black.

Exterior modifications outside of the main body include body-colored door handles, a new set of 20-inch matte black wheels, the Fragment logo on the grille, and the fashion brand’s emblem on the C-pillar. There’s also a very interesting and somewhat cryptic code on the fenders below the vents that reads “M157110519FRG.” But, this isn’t The Da Vinci Code, so don’t start trying to figure it out, because we already have the answer. “M157” stands for the Ghibli’s Id code, “110519” stands for the date that the company first met with Fujiwara (November 5, 2019), and FRG is the acronym for Fragment.

The interior of these special edition cars come upholstered in a mix of premium leather and Alcantara. Contrasting silver inserts make up the vertical stitching and the trident on the headrests. The seatbelts are, oddly, dark blue. As part of this partnership, Fragment is also launching a capsule collection that will only be available via Maserati. As for when these cars are going to launch, that’s a complete mystery, as is their price, but I wouldn’t expect them to come cheap. The Ghibli starts out from $72,190, and you can expect both of these special editions to come at quite the premium.

Maserati Offers Us The First Look At the 2022 All-Electric GranTurismo

The fully electric Maserati GranTurismo marks a new era for the Italian carmaker

The return of Maserati GranTurismo was highly anticipated. Maserati recently teased a version of the car, heavily shrouded in camouflage. We know that the GranTurismo and its soft-top convertible sibling, the GranCabrio, will be introduced later this year. The previous generation GranTurismo/Cabrio was on sale for 12 years and it finally ceased production in December 2019. But the introduction of a new generation is not the only big thing happening with the GranTurismo name.

2021 Maserati MC20 ’Aria’ By 7 Designs

The carbon fiber body kit for the MC20 looks subtle but is highly functional

New York-based design firm, 7 Designs, has come up with a body kit for the Maserati MC20. The company has come up with the Aria aero kit for the supercar that features eight components composed of carbon fiber. None of these are any crazy, oversized parts that affect the original look of the car. These are rather subtle and fully functional that add enough downforce to keep your 600+ horsepower beast in control at high speeds. The company will make just 25 examples of this aero kit, so don’t expect it to be cheap..

Maserati MC20 - Making The Sprint to 200 KM/H

This video showcases the Maserati M20’s launch control and acceleration

Maserati’s first supercar in over 15 years is highly anticipated. We already know that the Maserati MC20 will arrive as a 2022 model and that it will have a twin-turbo V-6. At 3.0 liters, the new engine may have half the displacement and half the cylinders of the MC12, but it more than makes up for it. With twin-turbocharging, the unit makes 621 horsepower – almost the same as the MC12 – and 538 pound-feet (730 Nm).

Maserati Bora - A Great Car With Horrible Timing

Maserati Bora - A Great Car With Horrible Timing

Maserati’s first mid-engine car turns 50

Maserati is one of the oldest and most coveted Italian car brands ever. Although they’ve had their ups and downs, the motorsport success of Maserati cars has helped spawn some great road cars, too. Among them was the Bora, which actually has its 50th anniversary this year. The Maserati Bora may not be as celebrated as other models of the brand, but it’s one of the most significant Maserati cars to have been produced. For its 50th birthday, we are giving you some interesting facts about the Bora.

What is the Cheapest Maserati?

The cheapest Maserati you can get in the US is the Ghibli, priced from $75,480. In Germany, things are quite similar, in the sense that the Ghibli is also the most affordable (we wouldn’t say cheap) model in Maserati’s lineup, with a starting price tag of €69,300. That being said, there’s not really such thing as a cheap Maserati.

What is the Sportiest Maserati?

The sportiest Maserati, if we are to ignore the high-maintenance MC12, is the GranTurismo. It packs a 4.7-liter high-revving V-8 good for 454 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.8 seconds and top out at 186 mph (300 km/h). Coming back to the MC12, it packs a 6-liter

derived V-12 powerplant pushing out 621 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 481 pound-feet of torque at 5,500 rpm. Top speed is a whopping 205 mph (330 km/h) while the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) interval is cleared in 3.8 seconds.

What is the Most Popular Maserati?

The most popular Maserati is the Levante SUV, which in 2018 was sold in 18,447 units across the world. It was followed by the likes of Ghibli (11,220), Quattroporte (3,505), and GranTurismo/GranCabrio (1,699). If we are to ignore the sales figures and look at the brand’s legacy, then it would be hard to pinpoint an exact model. Perhaps the MC12 could be named the most popular Maserati, since it’s the most extreme road-going car to wear the trident logo.

What is the Most Expensive Maserati?

The most expensive Maserati you can buy today is the GranTurismo Convertible ($150,980) or, how they call it in Europe, the GranCabrio (€144,320). Also worth mentioning is that the Maserati MC12 came with a price tag of $1.5 million. So, there’s that.

What is the Fastest Maserati?

The fastest Maserati on sale today is the GranTurismo, which can sprint from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.8 seconds and hit 186 mph (300 km/h). However, the Maserati MC12 was able to clear the same interval in 3.8 seconds and top out at 205 mph (330 km/h).

Are Maserati Cars Reliable?

Maserati cars are not that reliable, if we are to be perfectly honest. Back in 2015, Maserati was named one of the most unreliable brands in Britain and one year later, WarrantyDirect placed it on the 36th position out of 36 in its reliability survey. Things are not particularly rosy if we look at ReliabilityIndex, who gave Maserati the Poor rating after the Italian carmaker managed to score an index of 697.
