With the pandemic still looming over our heads, 2021 was a pretty action-packed year for the auto industry. Sure, you had challenges, with automakers having to contend with issues like chip shortages, causing delays to consumers. But regardless, the show had to go on and we got some pretty cool cars making their debut, predominantly towards the latter half of 2021.

Let’s get one thing out of the way, 2021 really was also the year, when the market as a whole began to embrace EV’s and you could see several automakers both the legacy as well as EV startups bring several new models to market. Having said that, we did see some pretty cool ICE cars, also make their debut. Now there were several cars that made headlines this year, it was very difficult to pick out the best ones, but the cars on this list definitely stood out. Here’s our list of some of the most highly anticipated and important cars that were unveiled in 2021.

While we are desperately waiting for the Bronco Raptor, aftermarket companies are offering us alternatives to keep us happy until then. Roush Performance announced an R Series kit for the Bronco that will turn this off-roader into, well, an even wilder off-roader! The kit brings around aesthetic as well as performance upgrades for the Bronco.

Toyota and Lexus recently unveiled a whole bunch of electric vehicles (EVs), and it basically covers every single niche and market. You can say that Toyota is pretty much late on the EV game, but they’re now trying to catch up in a big way. One of those EVs is this unnamed electric pickup concept that was also previewed during the press event.

In September 2021, Jeep debuted the 2022 Grand Cherokee, which happens to be the fifth-gen of the long-running SUV. It marks the introduction of a whole lot of things. The 2022 Grand Cherokee rides on a new platform, comes with exterior and interior upgrades, and features a lot of new off-road tech as well. However, there was something else that stole all the limelight – the 4xe model. Jeep launched the mid-size SUV with a hybrid engine, too, which will be sold as the Grand Cherokee 4xe. This makes it the second 4xe model in the company’s lineup after the Wrangler 4xe.

For those of you out there with a passion for fashion, Virgil Abloh (1980-2021) needs no presentation. Among others, he was the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection beginning 2018 and showed great interest in art and music too. For car enthusiasts, his name may sound familiar thanks to the special Mercedes-Benz G-Class designed in cooperation with Mercedes’ Chief Design Officer, Gorden Wagener and unveiled in 2020.

Until a couple of decades ago, two-door SUVs were extremely popular. Time, as they say, is not kind to anyone, but that doesn’t stop certain tuning studios from bringing them back to life, in the form of bold conversions. That’s exactly what Flat Out Autos has done with a 2018 Chevrolet Z71 Tahoe, which was shown at the 2021 SEMA Show.

The Bronco Raptor has been in the news pretty much the day after the Bronco was unveiled. A lot of rumors and speculations were seen headlining the auto scene, but nothing was official for over a year. In September, however, Ford confirmed that the Bronco Raptor is coming in 2022. Post this announcement, one thing was sure – we would be hearing and seeing a lot more about it.

Ford was mighty active at the recently concluded SEMA Show. It introduced tens of concepts for its trucks and the Mustang range. The Bronco wasn’t left behind either. We would’ve liked it if the Bronco Raptor would have made its debut here, but instead, the company gave us the Bronco DR – a Desert Racer built to compete in the 2022 Baja 1000. Interestingly, the company will put it up for sale, but it isn’t street legal. Care you shell out over $200,000 for the beast?

The new generation Toyota Tundra made a huge impression when it was launched in September 2021, so it was to be expected for it to be one of the stars of this year’s SEMA Show. One of the coolest concepts based on the new generation Tundra comes from Toyota Racing Development (TRD) and is called TRD Desert Chase Tundra.

The SEMA auto show is just around the corner, and recently several manufacturers have been giving us sneak peeks at what they are bringing to the aftermarket world event. When Ford revived the Bronco moniker from the ashes, it made sure to cover all bases possible. It missed out on a couple of them, like not offering a V-8 and not making a manual gearbox available with the Sasquatch Package. The latter was rectified soon, and now there’s an official confirmation stating the same.

A user on Bronco6g.com forum attached an order guide for the 2022 Bronco that shows that the beefy Sasquatch package is available with the manual gearbox. Not exactly a surprise, but it’s good to have an official confirmation.
