Composite Beds On Pickup Trucks - Boon or Bane?

Composite Beds On Pickup Trucks - Boon or Bane?

Toyota Tundra comes with a composite bed unlike the aluminum and steel ones from the big three, but are composite beds the future?

The 2022 Toyota Tundra came out with all guns blazing. It doesn’t offer a plethora of engine options like its American rivals, but it still has a strong and loyal fan base who swear by its reliability. No wonder the Tundra and the Tacoma have a high demand even in the pre-worshipped market. While the 2022 model’s highlight was the new hybrid engine, there’s one other thing that deserves attention – its composite bed. It is said to be more abuse-friendly, but is that true?

These 10 Fast ‘Fuel-Powered’ Pickup Trucks Shouldn’t Be Forgotten When Electric Trucks Take Over

Here are 10 fast non-electric pickup trucks that we’ve seen over the years

We talk about how the upcoming electric pickup trucks are fast and heavy on performance. Trucks like the Tesla Cybertruck, the Rivian R1T, the GMC Hummer EV, etc. are all quicker than some of the famous supercars of this era. Although internal combustion-engined trucks aren’t known to be ‘fast’, there are a handful of them that could are quite agile. Chevrolet ZRX - The Raptor and TRX-Rivalling Off-Road Performance Truck That Chevy Desperately Needs

Chevrolet ZRX - The Raptor and TRX-Rivalling Off-Road Performance Truck That Chevy Desperately Needs

Unlike Ford and Ram that have standalone off-road performance trucks, Chevy seems to be content selling off-road packages for the Silverado

GM has been quite active in the pickup truck space since the beginning. It has even bifurcated its trucks between two brands – Chevrolet and GMC – and combined, both of them rake up pretty good numbers. Chevy brings in more sales as opposed to GMC and has managed to keep up with Ford and Ram in terms of models and trim levels on each of them. It even announced an electric Silverado that could arrive in a couple of years. However, the automaker has lagged in the case of a performance off-road truck. There are Silverado trims with off-roading prowess, but there’s no standalone model like the Ford F-150 Raptor and the Ram 1500 TRX.

There were rumors of Chevy working on one such product, but there’s still no concrete detail. It was rumored to be called the ZRX, but those were mere speculations. Chevy had trademarked the ‘ZRX’ moniker sometime back, but there seems to be no development on that front thus far. Is the automaker missing out on something big by not offering a performance off-road truck to the market? We sure think so.

After Ford and Ram, Chevy Decides to Come up With an Off-Road-Ready Version of the Silverado Truck

After Ford and Ram, Chevy Decides to Come up With an Off-Road-Ready Version of the Silverado Truck

The Silverado ZR2 off-road model will take on the Ford Tremor; not the Raptor

Chevy is taking baby steps towards competing with the Ram 1500 and the Ford F-150 in the off-roading, performance truck department. Out of the Big Three, Chevy is the only one not to offer a full-fledged off-road model for the Silverado. Ford has the F-150 Raptor (and Raptor R V-8 in the works), whereas Ram has the 1500 TRX. While Chevy hasn’t come up with a standalone off-roading model yet, it has teased a new trim, something similar to what Ford does with the Tremor and Ram does with the 1500 Rebel. Chevy has plans to offer the Silverado in the ZR2 outfit that will give you the freedom to take your bowtie truck off the roads without much hesitation. Well, better late than never!

This 1959 Chevy Apache Work Truck Restomod Includes A V-8 Engine That Makes Over 500 Horses

It is based on a new platform, comes with an all-wheel-drive system, and features many other modern touches while looking old-school

American trucks from back in the day are some of the hottest restomod projects that aftermarket companies and individuals are taking up today. We generally see a lot of Ford F100s go through the restomod process, but here we have a truck that isn’t quite as popular. This is a 1959 Chevrolet Apache work truck that was part of the ‘Task Force’ series launched by the bowtie back in the 50s. The restomod includes putting the Apache on a new chassis, tossing in a V-8 engine, and fitting a four-wheel-drive system to make it a practical, daily driver work truck, as opposed to a pavement pickup like the yesteryear GMC Syclone.

Chevrolet Confirms An Electric Silverado, But Will It Be a Rebadged Hummer EV?

Chevy is late to the party but don’t discount it because the automaker has done its groundwork already

It was pretty hard to digest that one of the top truck manufacturers in the U.S., Chevrolet, was mum about electric trucks. At a time where every EV manufacturer was coming up with an offering to the open-bed segment, Chevy was out of the limelight for a very long time. Ford, on the other hand, has been active for years now, right from challenging Tesla to making official announcements.

But finally, the Bowtie has stepped up and officially announced its first-ever electric pickup truck in the form of the Silverado EV. And the icing on the cake? A range of 400 miles!

Chevrolet Details The 2021 Multi-Flex Tailgate

The 2021 Silverado 1500 also benefits from better tow ratings and new features

Chevrolet is here with a versatile tailgate of its own called the Multi-Flex tailgate. As expected, it is carried over as it is from the GMC trucks and given a new name. These tailgates certainly have an extra advantage over the simple ones that don’t offer any other function except for opening and closing. However, the Multi-Flex tailgate wasn’t the only news here; the 2021 models will come with some new standard features and better tow ratings.

The Chevy Silverado Will Finally Have a Cool Tailgate

The Chevy Silverado Will Finally Have a Cool Tailgate

Chevrolet will join the club with Ram and GMC, leaving Ford out there alone in this battle of versatile tailgates

First, it was the war of who’s got the biggest grille. Now the focus has shifted to tailgates. The main unique selling points of pickup trucks are cargo beds. While there isn’t much you can do in that aspect apart from offering different types of Tonneau covers, or illumination, or different material for the base. Ram and GMC changed the game when they launch tailgates that can be used more efficiently. These tailgates became the talk of the town, but surprisingly, the other players in the market, Ford and Chevrolet, didn’t make a move. Although we’re yet to see the former do something about it, Chevrolet has made its move.

The automaker has announced a “MultiFlex” tailgate that will be available for the 2021 Silverado. There isn’t a lot known yet, but Chevy will drop more details about it on September 21.

New Info On the Chevy Silverado ZR2 Proves It Won’t Compete With the Ram 1500 TRX or Ford F-150 Raptor

Did GM just back out of what could’ve been an epic three-way battle?

Full-size performance off-road trucks are picking up heat lately and it has piqued the interest of truck manufacturers and aftermarket companies alike. There was just one significant production-truck – the Ford F-150 Raptor – in this niche until recently, but Ram joined the fray with the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX. We knew that Ram was working on the Raptor-killer even since it unveiled the TRX concept back in 2016, but there was also news about Chevy working on a product to take on these two.

However, Muscle Cars and Trucks has now reported that what we thought would be Chevy’s offering to the segment is just an off-road truck that won’t go up against the Raptor and the TRX.

The Chevrolet Corvair is mostly known as a rear-engined compact car that GM built from 1959 to 1969. These days, people find stock vehicles to be boring and generally add stuff to make them more personal and exclusive. This shows that people love spending money on add-ons and accessories for their vehicles.

Then there are also some folks who spend almost the same amount of money on accessories that they spent on the vehicle itself. Here’s one such example of a $40,000 Chevy Silverado RST with extra accessories worth $38,000.
