Sleeper cars and trucks are probably the best vehicles you see on the road. As typical an underdog move this is, it sure increases the surprise factor multifold. The latest sleeper truck that we came across is this Ford F-150 that makes 1,200 horsepower! It even proves its prowess by humiliating a Corvette Z06. Oh, the fun the driver must have every single day!

With the pandemic still looming over our heads, 2021 was a pretty action-packed year for the auto industry. Sure, you had challenges, with automakers having to contend with issues like chip shortages, causing delays to consumers. But regardless, the show had to go on and we got some pretty cool cars making their debut, predominantly towards the latter half of 2021.

Let’s get one thing out of the way, 2021 really was also the year, when the market as a whole began to embrace EV’s and you could see several automakers both the legacy as well as EV startups bring several new models to market. Having said that, we did see some pretty cool ICE cars, also make their debut. Now there were several cars that made headlines this year, it was very difficult to pick out the best ones, but the cars on this list definitely stood out. Here’s our list of some of the most highly anticipated and important cars that were unveiled in 2021.

The G-Class is one of the most iconic Mercedes-Benz models - there is no doubt about that. And for sure Brabus does the best work when it comes to updating Mercedes models. Launched back in 2013, the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 by Brabus made quite a sensation. But is it sensational enough for someone to actually think it is worth $1.1 million? At launch, it was priced from $430,000, so let that sink in.

Hennessey Performance was out at the Pennzoil proving grounds in Sealy, Texas once again, with their Venom 775 taking on an equally aggressive Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. Let’s look at the numbers on these two machines to see how they stack up against each other, shall we?

Ever since its official launch everyone agreed that the new generation Ford Ranger is quite a departure from the old Ranger. While its design is not a huge improvement over what we were used with, the new Ranger is fresh and its Maverick inspired look fits it very well.

Toyota and Lexus recently unveiled a whole bunch of electric vehicles (EVs), and it basically covers every single niche and market. You can say that Toyota is pretty much late on the EV game, but they’re now trying to catch up in a big way. One of those EVs is this unnamed electric pickup concept that was also previewed during the press event.

Although it was bound to happen, this comes as a surprise. GMC dropped a short trailer teasing the new upcoming Electric Sierra Denali. The automaker hasn’t revealed any details about it, but gave us a glimpse of its front fascia. Well, something’s better than nothing and we at least know GMC has already started working on electrifying the Sierra.

The Tesla Cybertruck debuted almost two years back, but the deliveries have still not begun. We keep getting constant updates about the unorthodox truck, but it wasn’t spied or seen testing… until now. A long, detailed drone footage of the Cybertruck testing at the Tesla’s Fremont facility has come to the fore, courtesy of ‘Chile Al100’. The video shows the Cybertruck, which seems to be in its production form, and features many changes when compared to the prototype that was unveiled in 2019.

CarWow has been synonymous with its drag racing videos on YouTube, but this time they have something different in-store. This time, two Toyota off-road vehicles are being pitted against each other, to determine, which is the better off-roader and workhorse? Moreover, both the Toyota Hilux and Toyota Land Cruiser (Prado) are not being sold on the US market, so the real question is, are you missing something?

Ford launched the F-150 Lightning earlier this year. The electric truck checks almost all the boxes and can be considered as the first mainstream electric pickup truck for the masses. There are a lot of electric trucks launched in recent years, like the Tesla Cybertruck, the Rivian R1T, the Lordstown Endurance, the Bollinger B2, etc. But, none of them offer the all-round capability that the F-150 Lightning does.

The Ford truck comes with all the bells and whistles one can ask for, and then some more. For now, Ford has launched it in one body style and three basic trims plus an exclusive work truck model, but expect it to grow in the coming years. With all the subsidies and credits, the F-150 Lightning works out to be the cheapest full-size truck in the market today! (more on this in the ‘Pricing’ section). From the looks of it, the F-150 Lightning seems to be an all-rounder that offers good power outputs, decent range, and a lot of tech features. Just a few days ago, we reported that Ford is aiming to be the world’s second-largest electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer in the world, and as a matter of fact, the company has confirmed that it now has 200,000 reservations for the F-150 Lightning. Unfortunately, it is also because of that reason that led the Blue Oval brand to close reservations for its full-size EV pickup.

The folks at ‘The Fast Lane Truck’ conducted a drag race with not two, but five different pickup trucks. They had trucks across segments, starting from the Ford Maverick and the Hyundai Santa Cruz, to the Nissan Frontier, the Toyota Tundra, and the Ford F-150 Raptor. This wasn’t a conventional race wherein you just had all five trucks go at it together. It was more of a gauntlet match wherein the winner of a race faced a new truck in the next round and the loser got eliminated. Sounds a little like Squid Game, doesn’t it?

There were rumors of a quad-motor setup making the cut in the Cybertruck, and the EV czar, Elon Musk, has now confirmed the same. Replying to a tweet, Musk said that a four-motor variant will hit the production line first. What’s more, the truck will also have Tank Turn and Crab modes! Talk about taking the Rivian R1T and the GMC Hummer EV’s most-talked features.

While Tesla continues to lead the electric vehicle (EV) sales race, Ford is aiming to become the second-largest EV manufacturer within the next two years. This is thanks to the huge interest that was generated by the F-150 Lightning, which will reach customers by Spring 2022, ahead of Tesla’s Cybertruck.
