Electric Pickups to Pay Attention to Next Year

Electric Pickups to Pay Attention to Next Year

These EV pickups will change the scene with their impressive performance

The automotive industry is experiencing huge paradigm shifts as hybrids and electric vehicles become more integrated with the lineups that automakers currently offer. The idea of an electric pickup may have been laughable as recently as 2010, but it’s not as funny now. Within a decade, solely gasoline models in every segment will be the minority as the EVs take over. There is an obvious concern of weight as pickups and electrics are rather heavy on their own without being combined, but emerging technologies should solve this soon. None of the following trucks are currently available, but they will be able to carry out deliveries and a full days’ work on a single charge when released.

Alpine A108 Is The Forgotten Predecessor To The Original A110

The 1958 Alpine A108 is a forgotten gem that put Alpine on the global Map. It also inspired the original A110

When it comes to high-performance sports cars, Alpine is rarely the first brand to come to mind. Nowadays, the brand is has been revived and the Alpine A110 is a faithful reboot to the original 1961 A110. What many don’t know, however, is that the original A110 is actually an evolution of an older model – the much less known A108.

What EVs Have the Best Range in 2021?

What EVs Have the Best Range in 2021?

The number of EVs on the market keeps growing, and these are the models with the best range so far

The earliest modern electric vehicles were successful purely because they dared to challenge the notion that a car could run on anything other than petrol. The public embraced the change, though, but the problem lay in the capacity to fulfill the requirements fossil fuel had adequately done until then. The technology behind them was also in the rudimentary stages, so cars had only enough battery power to get them to work, and they had to be recharged for the trip back. It caused an increase in range anxiety both for the new owners of electric vehicles and the automakers. They were worried these cars would not have the ability to fulfill obligations before reaching charging points. However, this problem is becoming less relevant for today’s electric cars, whose ranges are getting longer by the day. The following list boasts EVs that can crack above 250 miles before you have to plug them in.

8 Amazing Things about the Polestar 2

8 Amazing Things about the Polestar 2

Polestar has gone above and beyond to create an affordable EV that’s tech savvy, practical, and safe

Once Volvo’s version of the AMG, Polestar has made a name for itself as the new EV division for Volvo. The first Polestar showed the market what a sports EV sedan should look like, and the new one is not any different. It has the proportions of a sedan but the ride height of a crossover, much like Forester stance save for the rear estate body. At $47,200, it’s cheap (for an EV) and a clean-cut looker, but the latest iteration of the Polestar is not just a pretty-faced environmental ambassador.

Chevrolet ZRX - The Raptor and TRX-Rivalling Off-Road Performance Truck That Chevy Desperately Needs

Chevrolet ZRX - The Raptor and TRX-Rivalling Off-Road Performance Truck That Chevy Desperately Needs

Unlike Ford and Ram that have standalone off-road performance trucks, Chevy seems to be content selling off-road packages for the Silverado

GM has been quite active in the pickup truck space since the beginning. It has even bifurcated its trucks between two brands – Chevrolet and GMC – and combined, both of them rake up pretty good numbers. Chevy brings in more sales as opposed to GMC and has managed to keep up with Ford and Ram in terms of models and trim levels on each of them. It even announced an electric Silverado that could arrive in a couple of years. However, the automaker has lagged in the case of a performance off-road truck. There are Silverado trims with off-roading prowess, but there’s no standalone model like the Ford F-150 Raptor and the Ram 1500 TRX.

There were rumors of Chevy working on one such product, but there’s still no concrete detail. It was rumored to be called the ZRX, but those were mere speculations. Chevy had trademarked the ‘ZRX’ moniker sometime back, but there seems to be no development on that front thus far. Is the automaker missing out on something big by not offering a performance off-road truck to the market? We sure think so.

Tailgate Aerodynamics: Does Removing A Tailgate Really Result In Better Fuel Efficiency?

Tailgate Aerodynamics: Does Removing A Tailgate Really Result In Better Fuel Efficiency?

Removing tailgates from pickup trucks was once a trend and would apparently save you gas; but it was actually the opposite

Do you remember that trend from back in the day wherein owners removed the tailgates from their pickup trucks? While some just left it open, a few put a safety net in its place. I can’t vouch for any of them, but I’m sure the reasoning behind it was to let the air flow through the net, thus aiding aerodynamics. In return, you’d get better fuel economy and better performance. If you wondered the same, I’m sorry to burst your bubble because that’s not the case. In fact, it would have adverse effects on your performance and economy.

Pickup Truck Tailgate War: Which Automaker Offers The Best Tailgate?

Pickup Truck Tailgate War: Which Automaker Offers The Best Tailgate?

While Ram and GM offer tailgates that can do all sorts of tricks, Ford is still stuck with a conventional tailgate, but with job-site functionality

Trucks are the best-selling products for most automakers who have pickups in their arsenal. The competition between the three American truckmakers – Ford, GM (Chevy and GMC), and Ram – is cutthroat and they are constantly finding ways to innovate. A few years back, they decided to do something about the tailgate and make them more functional and versatile. And, the result of this was more than just a piece of metal that opens and closes and safeguards the cargo kept in the bed.

The creative folks at Ram came up with the Multifunction Tailgate and the brains at GM came up with a MultiPro tailgate. Ford, despite being the best-selling truck brand for decades, is yet to catch up on this trend. But, it has made some tweaks and additions to its power tailgate. So, which one is the best?

Will Electric Trucks Be As Effective As Internal Combustion-Engined Trucks In The Foreseeable Future?

It may all seem superficial at the moment, but we’re not yet ready to replace conventional work trucks with electric trucks

Electric pickup trucks are all the rage right now. They are heavy on tech features, look futuristic, are quick enough to put supercars to shame, and come with power figures that will leave your jaws dropped. But in the midst of all this, we’ve lost sight of what matters the most – can it be used as a capable work truck? Yes, automakers have announced impressive towing capacities and whatnot, but are they worthy enough to replace your fuel-powered ‘work’ truck today?

The Kia EV6 Is A Formidable Rival To The Porsche Taycan, Too!

The Kia EV6 Is A Formidable Rival To The Porsche Taycan, Too!

The EV6 rivals the Ford Mustang Mach-E and the Tesla Model Y primarily, but it has enough potential to take on the much-more expensive Porsche Taycan

Electrification is the way to go whether you like it or not. Enough and more has been said about the advent of EVs, so we won’t get into that. Every automaker is coming up with their own new offerings, but there are some that stand out. The Kia EV6 is that stand-out model. Built from the ground up, the EV6 doesn’t seem like a half-hearted attempt from the automaker just because it needs to have a presence in the EV market. It is based on a new platform, a new design philosophy, and excels in most of the departments. It isn’t a perfect product, obviously, but it has a lot going in its favor and that’s precisely why it should be the talk of the town and why Porsche should be a little worried.

GMC Syclone - The 90s' Performance Truck That We Need Today!

GMC Syclone - The 90s’ Performance Truck That We Need Today!

This pickup truck was quicker than the then 911 Turbo and the Corvette ZR-1

Pickup trucks were always bareboned and were meant to be used as work vehicles. We saw a lot of performance, off-road trucks now, but there weren’t a lot of such options back in the day. Many automakers gave this a shot and no matter how good they were, they never made it big. One of the most prominent performance trucks from back in the day is the GMC Syclone.

The Syclone hit the automotive scene in 1991 and took everyone by surprise. Not a lot of people could fathom a truck that could take on, or probably even take down some of the most beloved supercars from that era. With performance specs that are impressive even three decades later, the GMC Syclone is the truck that the world needs today.

GMC Hummer EV: What Should You Be Getting - The SUV or Pickup Truck?

GMC Hummer EV: What Should You Be Getting - The SUV or Pickup Truck?

The SUV loses out on the power output, range and performance specs, but benefits from more cabin and cargo space, and better dimensions and angles

GMC introduced the Hummer EV supertruck last year and has now followed it up with the Hummer EV SUV. At the onset, it seems like a pickup truck that comes with a roof welded on the bed to make it an SUV. However, there is a lot more than meets the eye. Unlike the Rivian truck and SUV twins, the Hummer EV SUV has been placed as an inferior offering. There is a difference in specs, power outputs, and other things that makes it look like the second fiddle to the EV truck. The pricing, however, is on par for the standard models and there is a difference only in the Launch Edition model.

Are Automakers Using V-8 Engines As An Emotional Bait?

Are Automakers Using V-8 Engines As An Emotional Bait?

What are carmakers focusing on – developing quality EVs or coming up with V-8 engines in their products?

The world is moving towards electrification faster than we can digest. While many of us are looking forward to clean mobility, some enthusiasts and purists are dreading it and want to enjoy internal combustion engines while they last. Automakers have been reducing the number of cylinders under the hood in the name of “efficiency” for a long time now, but that didn’t mean V-8s weren’t in demand. But, with major strides being done in electrification technology lately, the demise of V-8s will be sooner than expected.

However, many vehicles are being offered now with V-8 engine options. This is pretty much against the tide, but very welcoming, to say the least. So, the question here is, are automakers trying to use V-8s as an emotional bait to lure in customers and build a loyal base heading into the future, or is this the last hurrah before V-8s finally slip into oblivion?
