The Porsche 911 GT3 is the ultimate, normally-aspirated 911 and the YouTube channel AutoTopNL recently got its hands on a 992 GT3 Touring – the more street-oriented, “less shouty” version of the normally-aspirated track weapon, without the crazy aero. And while race tracks are the home of the GT3, here, we see how capable the wingless version is, on the Autobahn. Is the “purest 911” capable enough, in the age of turbocharged performance cars?

Man’s imagination knows no bounds and when it comes to cars, we often see some truly epic creations. Luckily, the internet makes it possible for us to see these creations, and this interesting mix of Porsche Maserati and Nissan is the latest we have stumbled upon.

This is exactly the case with this rendering of a Toyota A70 Supra, done by Dom Höst, also known as altered_intent, and vaguely resembles its former self.

Drag races are particularly interesting when they are between two very different cars. With this in mind, Sam CarLegion gives us another drag race between two very different Toyota products. On one side, we have the light and nimble Toyota GR Supra, while on the other, a Lexus RC-F that can best be described as a Japanese muscle car. Both cars send power to the rear axle, but that’s about all they have in common.

When you think of 1980s Mercedes-Benz cars, you probably think of the bulletproof W124-generation or maybe its smaller brother, the 190E (W201), also known as the “Baby Benz”. But what you probably didn’t know is that, in the 1990s, a tuning company called Schulz took a Mercedes 190E and turned it into the first Mercedes hatchback, way before the A-Class and BMW 1 Series. It’s called the Mercedes 190E Stadt (City).

Because of the oil crisis and stringent emissions regulations, the mid to late-1970s did not spawn many great American cars. The once-powerful American V-8 engines were choked out of their power and became shadows of their former selves. And while American cars from that era are not particularly desired, nor a preferred platform for any form of restoration, this Jaguar XJ-C by Polish tuner Carlex Design is a vision of what can be considered an epic British muscle car/resto-mod from the mid-1970s.

Performance versions of the Ford Mustang have always been sought-after, by collectors. We have models like the original Shelby GT350 R, Shelby GT500, or BOSS 302, but for many, the top of the cherry, the big daddy, is considered to be the BOSS 429. But for all its performance credentials, the BOSS 429 had weight-distribution issues, which is why, in 1969, Ford decided to experiment with a mid-engine version of the BOSS 429, dubbed the LID Mustang.

Hoonigan has been staging some of the craziest drag races, seen on YouTube. As part of the channel’s “This vs That” series, we now get “Hoonicorn vs the World” – a series of drag battles, where Ken Block’s teenage daughter – Lia Block – who is only 14, rocks the 1,400-horsepower Mustang, known as the Hoonicorn. In the previous episode, Lia Block raced an NHRA C6 Corvette and now, she’s going up against a Hoonicorn-inspired, 2013 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta twin-turbo.

Whether you want to recreate a classic design, like the Zagato IsoRivolta GTZ, on top of a modern chassis or create something entirely new, like the Ares Design S1, it seems the Corvette is able to take it. Moreover, he’s far from done, as he is working on three, high-performance builds, based on the C7 Corvette.

But, by far, one of the most famous Corvette movie cars in recent times is the Chevrolet Corvette C2 Grand Sport speedster, from the Fast and the Furious 5. One of the three cars that survived was auctioned off earlier this year, and we decided to shed some light on it.

Ferrari’s first SUV, which the company refers to as an FUV, is coming along nicely. We recently shared spy footage of the car and we saw its production body for the first time, even if it’s still heavily camouflaged. Carwow is back with another one of its epic drag races and this one actually makes quite a bit of sense. Ever since the Alpine A110 S came out, we have been wondering how the French mid-engine sports car would fare against some of the hottest sports cars, currently on sale. The British YouTube channel provides the answer, courtesy of a Porsche 718 Cayman GTS and a Toyota GR Supra.

Social media is often the source of information on some of the most epic cars, ever made. With this in mind, the Facebook group, Exotic Cars For Sale By Owner, currently has a very interesting listing – a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport continuation car, built in 2015, by Duntov Motor Company, which also happens to be a star from an MTV music video.

Until a couple of decades ago, two-door SUVs were extremely popular. Time, as they say, is not kind to anyone, but that doesn’t stop certain tuning studios from bringing them back to life, in the form of bold conversions. That’s exactly what Flat Out Autos has done with a 2018 Chevrolet Z71 Tahoe, which was shown at the 2021 SEMA Show.

There are people out there who can be considered emissaries of motorsport. One of these people was Sir Frank Williams who, sadly, passed away yesterday on November 28, at the age of 79. The boss of Williams F1 was the epitome of a petrol head and devoted much of his life to motoring. The world of motorsports will certainly be an emptier place without him, but his legacy will remain.

When it comes to Japanese performance sedans, the new Acura TLX Type S has been the talk of talks lately. It debuted on 23 June 2021 and, despite its transversely-mounted engine, it promises an engaging driving experience, combined with perfect daily usability. But how will it fare against another Japanese performance sedan? The YouTube channel Sam CarLegion gives an answer by pitting the Type S against an Infiniti Q50 Red Sport.

It seems, in the world of modified cars, engine swaps are as common as ketchup on a hot dog (original, I know). There are certain engines that are considered to be the go-to platforms, for such things, e.g. LS, 2JZ, etc. as well as cars that are crying to accommodate either of them, in their engine bays. However, there are engine swaps that are much more uncommon, whether because of the engine choice or because of the car they are done to, and these are some of the main culprits.

With the death of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, many started to fat-shame the Subaru STI. With the latest generation recently unveiled, many hope that the Japanese, rally-inspired sedan will redeem itself. And while officially, a full-on STI model is yet to arrive, the recently unveiled, Japan-only WRX S4, is a good sign that this may happen soon.

The saying “win on Sunday, sell on Monday” still carries weight in the automotive world and Alpine is one of the latest examples. 2021 was indeed a good year for the small French carmaker. It ventured into Formula One and won the Grand Prix in Hungary while simultaneously pushing ahead with the Endurance program in the Hypercar category. The company’s motorsport strife has been perfectly reflected by the revamped Alpine A110, which is even more exciting.

Chinese carmakers have come a long way in a short time that much is clear. Now, they are going a step further, by taking on Tesla, with what looks like…a Tesla? This is the Nezha S, also known as the Neta S (both names are used), which was unveiled at the 2021 Guangzhou Auto Show. While the shape may bear a striking resemblance to the Tesla Model S, the Nezha/Neta S is its own car. Moreover, it promises to beat the American EV manufacturer to full autonomy, achieving Level 4 autonomy, by 2022.

When it comes to modified cars, the main goal seems to be high horsepower. However, having a well-sorted car means building it to send that power to the ground, as efficiently as possible. With this in mind, That Racing Channel (TRC) is giving us a YouTube video of one such car – a sinister-looking C7 Corvette, which may be one of the most well-sorted high-horsepower builds, you will ever see.

A while back, Ferrari promised that it will be more unpredictable in regard to its upcoming models. It seems the Italian company relies on its ultra-exclusive Icona models in order to do so, as it recently unveiled the $2.26-million Ferrari Daytona SP3, of which only 599 will be made. This, however, will not be the only model we see from Ferrari’s Icona program, as the company is working on more special projects, with V-12 power.

The McLaren F1 is still considered to be one of the greatest cars ever made. Since then, there have been a few attempts of recapturing its presence, more specifically, in the form of the McLaren Speedtail and Gordon Murray T50. Unfortunately, all three of the above-mentioned cars cost a fortune, especially the F1, which currently goes for $20.5 million. Luckily, a Canadian firm, DDR Motorsport has got your back with a McLaren F1-inspired kit that costs a fraction of the price. It’s called the Grullon GT8 Grand Prix Edition.

We have been tackling the subject of electrification quite a bit lately, as more and more models are adopting some form of electrification, with some becoming fully electric. For better or worse, this also extends to some iconic names like the Ford Mustang. With the latest information, from a Ford engineer, we have good reason to believe that the current, S550 generation of the pony car will be the last non-hybrid model.

Apparently, a designer that goes by the name of rob3rtdesign is of the same mind, as he has decided to take the Brazil-only Volkswagen SP2 and turn it into something that looks like an epic side project, made by RUF or Singer.

It started in the 1990s, with the idea of recapturing the spirit of the 1960s Shelby Cobra and Carroll Shelby, himself, was attached to the Viper’s development. It’s old school versus new school and American versus European, as a mildly modified Audi RS6 Avant take on a purpose-built, 1967 Pikes Peak Chevrolet Camaro.

But some people have their own version of the perfect Corvette and Richard Smith, who was a GM technician, went to great lengths to build his vision of the perfect 1968 Chevrolet Corvette. This is the story of a 1968 Corvette named “the Beast”.

Porsche is on a row, as it announces special editions of its 911 and 718 models. At this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show they, once again, introduced a track-only version of the Cayman, called the GT4 RS Clubsport. The mid-engine race car from Weisscach is based on the Porsche 718 GT4 RS, which also debuts on this year’s auto exhibition, in Los Angeles.

The Chevrolet Corvette C8 is still one of the hottest sports cars, currently on sale. Demand is so high, GM is having trouble keeping up. The same could be true with the recently unveiled 2023 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06, as information about the prices has finally leaked. Spoiler alert: like the regular C8, it’s shaping up to be a performance car bargain.

Tesla is no longer the sole EV carmaker, as more and more companies are churning out high-performance models, powered purely by electricity. Every car starts with a test mule and in the case of the McLaren F1, the test mule was a BMW E34 M5 Touring.

In the world of modified cars, engine swaps are quite a common practice. And while certain engines are the go-to powertrains for that, there are those that are more unconventional. For a while, we have been hearing about Porsche and Audi planning to enter Formula One. Volkswagen has been trying to find ways of gaining a foothold in the F1 racing series, since 2010 and now, the German automotive giant might finally be on to something. With recent, false reports of Audi’s acquisition of McLaren, we deemed it wise to shed light on matters.

The B58 engine is one of BMW’s more popular powertrains, as it powers many of the German brand’s more performance-oriented versions. The latest car that is going to feature the turbocharged inline-six is the 2023 BMW M2, said to debut in December 2022. In recent years, Fiat started resurrecting model names from the past. They started with the Fiat 124 Spider, which shares the underpinnings of the Mazda MX-5. More recently, the company brought back the Tipo name, as a more affordable alternative to the likes of Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Golf that comes in three body types – hatchback, sedan, and station wagon. For 2023, the Italian model is station wagon is getting a more rugged, high-riding version called the Tipo Cross Station Wagon.

Without a doubt, the 2021 SEMA Show introduces some interesting ideas of what the future of modified cars could look like. It seems that, for better or worse, electrification will play a major role in future builds, as demand for crate electric motors is at its highest. Among the many SEMA entries, this year is a 1957 Chevrolet, dubbed Project X.

Cars from the 1980s are slowly rising in popularity, as cars like the Lancia Delta Integrale and Porsche 928 have become particularly sought-after collector cars. When it comes to American cars from that era, there really isn’t a whole lot of excitement, because of the oil crisis and severe restrictions, choking performance out of cars. That said, the YouTube channel AutoTopiaLA is giving us the tour of a 1986 Buick Regal resto-mod that has almost nothing in common with the original car.

If you follow everything revolving around BMW’s cars, you know that every time the Bavarian carmaker brings out a new model, it’s only a matter of time before Alpina makes its own version of it. The Bavarian-based tuning company is operating independently, since 1983 and now, it’s cooking up its own version of BMW’s 4-Series Gran Coupe in the form of the Alpina B4 Gran Coupe, which was recently spied testing.

Over the last decade, Dodge has been giving us all sorts of high-performance cars, based on the Challenger and Charger models. And while one of their most iconic models – the Dodge Viper – was retired a few years ago, Dodge wants to make up for it, by reviving an old performance program. It’s called Direct Connection and here’s what you can expect from it.

Very few cars have the enigmatic presence of a Porsche Carrera GT. The mid-engine supercar debuted in 2003 and in its four-year production cycle only 1,270 were made. Toyota wouldn’t be the first brand you think of when talking about exciting cars. However, the Japanese brand has been on something of a roll in recent times and the GR Yaris is one of the best examples. Few cars out there look as sinister as a black, 1970s Cadillac Hearse. Apparently, the people at Detroit Muscle thought it would be a good idea to bring a neglected, 1976 example back from the dead. Throughout Porsche’s history, the 911 will remain its most definitive model. However, Porsche had other great cars and some of them, for one reason or another, remained in obscurity. This is exactly the case with the 1957 Porsche 696 Beutler, which wasn’t even built in Germany, in the first place. This is what we know about it.

Some of you may laugh at the notion of a front-wheel-drive car having serious performance credentials and, in most cases, you wouldn’t be wrong. While there are plenty of high-power builds (mainly Civics), the general belief is that front-wheel drive doesn’t cut it after a certain power output – usually around 300 to 350 horsepower. Ever since Genesis was established as a luxury performance brand, we wondered how it would fare against its more established competitors. Today’s drag race, by YouTube channel Sam CarLegion shows us just that, as it pits the Genesis GV70 against an Audi SQ5 and an Acura RDX with a tune. This is how things went down.

If you are into cars, you are probably familiar with the SEMA show that’s been held every November, in Las Vegas, Nevada. You would also know, it’s a place where some of the craziest car builds can be seen. Basically, companies, be it automotive, aftermarket, or otherwise, show off their expertise and creativity. Honda of all companies, has decided to bring out something rather unusual – a 1990s Honda Accord Station Wagon with a heart transplant, the heart being that of the latest Civic Type R.

Alfa Romeo resurrected the Giulia name back in 2015 and it immediately became a serious contender in its segment. Of course, the top of the cherry was the Quadrofoglio (QV), which was only recently overshadowed by the track-focused Giulia GTAm. But what happens if you want the QV’s usability with performance greater than that of the GTAm? Manhart came up with a solution in the form of the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV 600.

An engine tune is the easiest way to get more performance out of your engine, especially if it features forced induction. It’s safe to say Aston Martin is late to the EV/hybrid bandwagon. With that being said, we already know that the British carmaker is already headed in that direction and the first of three (so far) planned EV models is said to debut in 2025. A few months ago, we talked about the Singer 911 DLS, which is a 500 horsepower, air-cooled, rear-engine, masterpiece, based on the 964-generation of the Porsche 911. We’ve been hearing about the car since 2018, but it was just a few months ago when the first customer car was finally ready. To say that the 911 DLS is the ultimate interpretation of an air-cooled 911 is a bold statement, which is why Singer decided to take it for a spin at the Nürburgring for some real testing.

Just in case you are tired of watching drag races, Hoonigan has raised the bar by pitting two real-life versions of fictional vehicles against one another. The two contenders couldn’t be any different even if they wanted. The famous Warthog, which is a military vehicle from the Halo franchise takes on probably the fastest DeLorean in the world. One is One of the cars has twice the horsepower, but also twice the weight, while the other isn’t exactly famous for its reliability. Regardless, the results are definitely interesting.

Genesis may have only been around for only five years, but it has already proved it can give “the old dogs” a run for their money. Not only are they not stopping but they are, once again, taunting the German trio in a very bold move. The Korean luxury brand was caught doing cold-weather testing in Sweden with a new Genesis G90 executive sedan. Mercedes recently brought out the new S-Class, while Audi is preparing an updated A8. We also know that BMW is about to give us a new 7-Series very soon, so it will be interesting to see how the all-new Genesis G90 will fare.

Porsche is a brand mostly known for the 911 – a car everyone seems to have the habit of trying to reimagine these days. RUF has been quite successful at doing that and, even before Porsche started dabbling with the idea of a hybrid/electric 911, RUF went on to make their own – the eRUF Model A.

At this point, there’s hardly anyone who doesn’t know about the C8 Corvette. The first production, mid-engine Corvette finally came to us in 2019 and quickly became the world’s hottest sports car. Moreover, that was only the base version, and now, we finally get a glimpse at the first high-performance version – the Z06. More importantly, we heard the engine, which sounded like no other Corvette that was ever made.

It’s another drag race from our UK colleagues from Carwow and this time, the Kia Stinger GT goes up against the Volkswagen Arteon R Shooting Brake. Although both cars compete in the same segment, they are propelled by very different drivetrains. Will more power and torque prevail over less weight, all-wheel drive, and a DSG gearbox?

With a few exceptions, Audi is a brand that makes luxury cars that, for the most part, feature a rather unremarkable design. While that changed in the last few years, one model that has always been exciting is the Audi R8. Since its debut, in 2006, the mid-engine model hasn’t experienced any radical changes. However a few months ago, Hildegard Wortmann – Audi’s global chief of sales and marketing – stated that the Audi R8 “is an icon of the past, not necessarily the future”. This points to the R8 nearing the end of its lifespan in order to make room for something new.

The first automobile was invented in 1886 and since then many great cars have emerged. But even nearly 140 years after the automobile’s invention, there are very few cars that have a cult following as zealous as that of the Porsche 911. This is especially true for the air-cooled models, which are all-time classics. If we combine the significance of an air-cooled 911 with the cocaine-snorting excess of the 1970s, we can see how a one-off 1979, guards red, modified Porsche 911 Turbo can be listed for $599,000 by a Florida dealership.

We are all familiar with the tuning potential of the 2JZ engine, which makes it one of the more popular engine swaps. That said, there are certain boundaries one should not be crossing. This is exactly what Mike Finnegan, from Finnegan’s Garage YouTube channel, did, as he took the rustiest 1968 Dodge Charger and put a 2JZ GTE engine in it. While it’s up for debate whether that’s worse than putting an LS into it (at least it’s a V-8) some MOPAR fans are sure to blow a fuse or two over Finnegan’s build.

When you think of American luxury cars, you probably think of Cadillac. Since its inception, in 1902, by founders William Murphy, Lemuel Bowen, and Henry M. Leland, the brand has been synonymous with lavishing luxury and style. Nowadays, there are plenty of startup companies cooking up an EV hypercar. One of its creations is a real-life replica of the Quadra V-Tech, featured in the game.

Since McLaren returned to making road cars, their names seemed like a bit of an afterthought.
