Do You Think An Audi S3 Can Hold A Candle Against The AMG A35 On A Drag Strip?

An AMG A35 goes up against an Audi S3 in a series of races for ego supremacy

Sam from ‘Sam CarLegion’ pit an Audi S3 and a Mercedes-AMG A35 against each other for a series of straight-line races

Audi S3:

It features a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged mill that puts out 288 HP and 280 lb/ft of torque. It is mated to a seven-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system

Mercedes-AMG A35:

This sedan is powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged engine and makes 302 HP and 295 lb/ft of twist. All four wheels are powered by a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox

Power-to-weight Ratio:

The AMG A35 weighs 3,480 pounds, just 19 pounds more than the 3,461-pound Audi S3. However, it boasts a better power-to-weight ratio. The AMG’s ratio stands .087 hp/lb, a tad better than the S3’s .083 hp/lb ratio

Drag Race 1 of 2:

The first standing drag race was conducted with both the cars locked in Sport mode and gearbox set in automatic mode. The AMG A35 was quicker off the line and kept on increasing the gap to score a win over the S3

Drag Race 2 of 2:

Everything was the same this time, except for the Traction Control being turned off. It made quite a difference as the tables were turned. The AMG got quite close to the S3 in the end, but not close enough to get a win

Rolling Race 1 of 2:

They started from 31 mph (50 kph) in the Sport mode with the traction control on. The Audi had a better kickdown, but the AMG was able to pip it comfortably within a few seconds to get a 2-1 lead over the Audi

Rolling Race 2 of 2:

This time, they raced in the manual mode with the traction control turned off. The Audi was no match to the AMG’s aggressive kickdown and ability to gain speeds at a phenomenal rate. The AMG won convincingly to add another win and settle the scores at 3-1
