2022 Audi RSQ8-S by ABT

With 740 horsepower under the hood, the RSQ8-R is a lot more powerful than the Urus!

Back in 2020, ABT announced the RSQ8-R - a package based on the Audi RS Q8 that increased the power up to a total of 700 horsepower. Of course, the car was sold in no time and customers asked for a replacement. Their wishes will come true as, in January 2022, ABT will be offering a new package for the Q8 RS: the new RSQ8-S.

What changes will it offer under the hood?

On customer’s requests, Abt is offering a successor for the very successful RSQ8-R package

One would think that with the "S" domination the new package will deliver less power than the previous R version. Completely wrong! ABT made sure that its customers will get the same amount of power, and a little bit more extra.

The RSQ8-S is based on the high-tech control unit ABT Engine Control (AEC), which increases the engine’s power up to a total of 700 horsepower and 649 pound-feet of torque - the exact same amount as the old RSQ8-R. But wait, there’s more!

On request, ABT will increase the V-8's total output up to a total of 740 horsepower and 687 pound-feet of torque.

As it name suggests, the new Abt RSQ8-S is based on the Audi RS Q8 and will go on sale in January, 2022

If these numbers do not impress you, let us refresh your memory a little. A "base" Audi RS Q8 is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-Liter V-8 engine that delivers a total of 592 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque.

What’s more, since everyone seems to think that the RS Q8 and the Lamborghini Urus are one and the same car, the 740-horsepower version of the RSQ8-S will in fact deliver exactly 100 horsepower more than the Italian supercar. In fact, ABT is offering the same treatment for the Urus and it updates its output up to a total of 700 horsepower. These numbers make the RSQ8-R 40 horsepower more powerful than the Urus ABT.

How about the exterior?

The new RSQ8-S comes with two different levels of power upgrade

In order to improve the exterior look, ABT is offering an aerodynamics package made of "motorsport-like" visible carbon.

It includes a striking front lip with the "RSQ8-S" logo in red lettering, side skirt add-ons at the front and rear, and a two-part rear spoiler.

The car will be offered with a standard set of new, 23-inch ABT High-Performance HR wheels, but ABT GR winter wheels can also be offered on request.

The RSQ8-S package is priced at 42,900 euros ($48,000 at the current exchange rates)

ABT will also install the ABT Level Control (ALC) in order to tune the standard air suspension. There will be two different levels: in Comfort level, the ride height goes down by 25 mm, and in the Dynamic level by 15 mm.

The final touch to the exterior look is a new ABT stainless steel exhaust system with four 102 mm tailpipes.

Any updates on the interior?

Small changes were done on the interior too, and they include: seat upgrade and integrated entrance lights, a shift knob cover in glossy visible carbon and an ABT logo placed on the steering wheel

Of course! While changes on the interior are not as impressive, they do include seat upgrade and integrated entrance lights, the shift knob cover in glossy visible carbon and an ABT logo placed on the steering wheel. The tuner is also offering an optional package that includes a carbon fiber dashboard and seat frame covers.

How about the prices?

The new RSQ8-S package is priced at 42,900 euros ($48,000 at the current exchange rates) - not including the price of the Audi RS Q8 and the installation fees.

The kit will be available starting January, 2022.
